I think your EDID header is stuffed, usually it should start with 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00

so looking above the EDIDs should look like this

FWIW, I concur with sbsolarski's diagnosis.

1. The goal of uninstalling monitor drivers is to remove all traces of potentially incorrect data - esp. PnP data. Since you have an "older projector" which is unlikely to be PnP, this will probably not help, but cannot hurt.

2. PowerStrip has never supported IGPs like the ION for reasons spelled out long ago in this FAQ.

3. For several years now, NVidia drivers have included a custom resolution CP extension which is modelled on, and eliminates the need for, PowerStrip. You should be using this to "write a custom resolution".

TheGate,

You may be able to convert your ANALOG EDID to a digital one (read my previous posts regarding this), additionally have you tried to get a digital EDID from your windows using the steps I post above?

I looked at your log:

I'm assuming that BOTH monitors are connected via the DVI port, but what other port are you using for both monitors to see what you are doing? do you have another monitor as a substitute?

This is may be your first monitor

each monitor has a unique EDID

In order to safely diagnose this even further and help entech to post here you should connect each FP241W monitor at time with another different monitor and post your MCCS log again.

1. connect one FP241W with DVI, connect another different monitor in analog, post log
2. disconnect FP241W
3. connect second FP241W with DVI, leave other monitor in analog slot, post log again

thanks for the reply.

let me modify my original response here:

what is the goal of uninstalling the monitor drivers? i'm pushing to an older projector. I still need some powerstrip-like utility to write a custom resolution for my set. for the record, i have installed generic monitor drivers, and even tried the the SONY GDM-FW900 driver 'trick' with no luck.

so, can you tell me whether the incompatibility with the ION is just waiting for a powerstrip update, or will it never work with the ION? if the ION will never work with powerstrip, i may need to return the computer while i can if i can't do 1080.

So this happens at all resolutions? The only other thing I can think of to test is Safe Mode. If the problerm exists in Safe Mode, you have a hardware problem. If there is no problem in Safe Mode, then its a driver issue.

It seems to be something in the way the OS treats the HDMI on the lcd vs DVI, as zamar81 originally posted about.

The xBox will be running at 1920x1080 at standard HDTV timing, and your PC is - or should be - running at the higher-than-HDTV resolution of 1920x1200, which is the display's native resolution.

If you are trying to run at 1920x1080 on the PC, with unsatisfactory results, check the "scaling" options in CCC. ("OverrideEDIDflags" is an Nvidia driver setting.)

Check 1920x1200 and see if it looks ok. If it does, but 1920x1080 does *not*, look at the scaling options in CCC - one of them should do the trick.

I tried 1920x1080, its just as "unsharp".. For kicks, in CCC, Under Color tab.. i had options for setting Hue, Saturation, Brightness and Contrast..

I tried playing with these controls.. but i still cant come close to the sharpness on the screens with dvi to hdmi..

I toyed with the scaling options, but couldnt find a combo that helped there either.
