Beginning with 3.72 (3.78 for Vista), PowerStrip includes an otherwise undocumented feature that can block many - certainly not all, but many - programs and games from changing your PowerStrip color preferences: gamma, brightness, contrast and temperature/tint.

To enable this feature:*

1. Close PowerStrip if its running
2. Use Notepad to open the pstrip.ini file in your PowerStrip or APPDATA folder
3. Add the following line:

[Global Options]
ApiBlock=1

4. Save back to disk
5. Restart PowerStrip

*Beginning with PowerStrip 3.8, you can enable this feature here: PowerStrip menu > Options > Preferences.

Note that under Vista UAC, you must supply administrative permission to enable this feature.

NB: THIS FEATURE IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING FLAGGED BY ANTI-MALWARE PROGRAMS AS SUSPECT. BEGINNING WITH 3.84, YOU CAN TRY THE FOLLOWING METHOD INSTEAD:

1. Close PowerStrip if its running
2. Use Notepad to open the pstrip.ini file in your PowerStrip or APPDATA folder
3. Add the following line:

[Global Options]
EnforceColor=1

4. Save back to disk
5. Restart PowerStrip
