Hi !

Last night i was trying to get a pixel perfect image for a sony lcd tv from thinkpad t61. I mistakely added some custom resolutions apparently to the laptop's monitor, because when i this morning powered the laptop, display failed to show any lifesigns, except for the backlight.

Native resolution is 1280 x 800 but windows reports max res. is 1024 x 768. I got a monitor inf from lenovo so that max res. is now what it should be. changing the res. to native one didn't help, still no picture.

Maybe edid got somehow corrupted...

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I suppose its possible, but not by PowerStrip: you are having problems with the digital panel and PowerStrip doesn't support Intel digital connections, only analog.

Post your moninfo.ini file, which is automatically created in the MonInfo folder.

I can choose the native resolution but seems that driver is still sending 1024 x 768 or something weird to the lcd.

Well, its not an EDID issue. There's probably a very simple solution to your problem, but do this:

1. Boot up in Safe Mode
2. Open Device Manager
3. Delete all entries *under* "Monitors" and "Display adapters"
4. Reboot

Windows should redetect your hardware (including your internal panel), and reconfigure itself accordingly.

Thanks, i'll try that later.

I just hope the vga output still works if that would fail.

To be sure, do the steps above with external VGA disconnected.

The key is can you access the laptop's BIOS Setup program or not? If you can, and it appears on the internal panel, you are Ok. If not, go no further.

There is no picture whatsoever on the internal lcd, not even during boot, i need to be connected to an external monitor (tv) to be able to see something.

I can access bios but the internal panel may not work...

I'm afraid that didn't wasn't clear. Can you access the BIOS Setup on the internal LCD or not?

Ok, then you want to be careful - there's probably an embedded EDID on the LVDS that's corrupted.

The original EDID is available in the registry and I'll place it as a string here for your reference.

Code:

00FFFFFFFFFFFF0030AE404000000000000F010380FFFFFF2F0000A057499B2610484F00000001010101010101010101010101010101641900404100263018883600000000000018281500404100263018883600000000000018000000FD00003C00690700000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000044

There are some extra monitors and maybe adapters, that Plug n Play is propably the original and thinkpad display i added later on. Defaul monitors are the sony lcd tv.
Maybe deleting some of them does something positive?

Should i place that string of code somewhere in the registry?

ByTheWay: i still have powerstrip installed, i should propably remove it

I don't expect those entries make any difference. The EDID data is already in your registry. Its the EEPROM in your panel that probably needs updating.

Send me an email with a link to this thread so I know who you are.

Actually, registered users of PowerStrip can update the EEPROM with an EDID (if its not write-protected), but it won't help you because PowerStrip won't touch (read or write) an Intel LVDS/embedded EDID on a laptop.

But I got your email and will take this up with you that way.
