Author Topic: Help! Moninfo won't recognize my HDTV/monitor...  (Read 6123 times)

I recently purchased a Vizio M220MV HDTV to double as an external monitor for my Toshiba NB205-N210 netbook.  My graphics accelerator is the Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset.  Via a VGA connector, I can get 1920x1200 resolution on the monitor, but everything's kinda fat as a result, and I've been trying to adjust the resolution to 1920x1080 instead.  Downloading the driver (specifically updated for this purpose) from Intel doesn't work -- after going through the install wizard a dialog box pops up saying I need to get the updated driver from my original manufacturer.  Sure enough, the Toshiba site doesn't offer the updated driver.

In order to try to adjust the resolution manually, I downloaded MonInfo, but when I run the program it won't recognize my external monitor.

Any advice?  Please?

That would suggest a cable and/or connection problem - make sure the VGA cable is less than 6 ft., direct (no KVMs or extenders!), firmly attached on both ends, and that it supports DDC.

It could also be a bad EDID in the Vision, but I would need to see the softMCCS diagnostic report (Ctrl+S) to tell if that were the case.
