Hello,

What fields are included in the corporate edition for mif file creation - the same as the personal edition?  I'm using the personal version and when I choose Save MIF, I see there are 13 attributes created, so less than available in the report within the GUI.  Specifically I would like to see screen size in the mif file, is this possible?

thanks

Everything is possible, but you'd have to be a substantial corporate customer to get customized output. If you are just an end user, you can pull screen size from a saved report instead of bothering with mif files.

I also should have mentioned: if you save the file using EnTech's old MIF format, it contains the screen size in field 7.

MonInfo main menu > File > Save MIF... and then change "Save as type" from "MIF files (*.mif)" to "MIF files (original format *.mif)".

Is 550 users substantial enough?

Normally, I'm afraid not. But let's be sure we are talking about the same thing. You said you need screen size out of the MIF file, and I told you it is there if you specfy the older MIF 1.0 version (silently, its "moninfo.exe /s filename").

Is that not sufficient and if not why not?

The version 1 of the file format does have screen size, but does not have:
"Preferred display settings"
"Display technology type"

We are looking to include these as well.  Or can I just run the utility to output both versions of the file and rely on SCCM to inventory both files?  I could then do a query to join the data from both tables using the serial number.  Is this possible?

That sounds unnecessarily complicated. Have a look at this sample MIF file, with data from 2 monitors, to see if it meets your needs:

Code:
Start Component
  Name = "Machine"
  Start Group
    Name = "Monitor Information"
    ID = 1
    Class = "EnTech|Monitor Information|2.0"
    Start Attribute
      Name = "Manufacturer description"
      ID = 1
      Type = String(64)
      Storage = Specific
      Value = "DELL 3008WFP"
    End Attribute
    Start Attribute
      Name = "Plug and Play ID"
      ID = 2
      Type = String(7)
      Storage = Specific
      Value = "DEL4034"
    End Attribute
    Start Attribute
      Name = "Serial number"
      ID = 3
      Type = String(32)

Yes that would suit our needs.  How do I produce that output?

Note I'm only testing with the personal version and neither seems to produce that output.

It is in the next release: "moninfo.exe /sz filename"

Or in the GUI: MonInfo main menu > File > Save MIF... and then change "Save as type" from "MIF files (*.mif)" to "MIF files (w/o raw data *.mif)"
