Author Topic: Locking refresh rate on an LCD TV  (Read 6763 times)

Hi, I'm looking to configure powerstrip so that when anytime an app (some games, particularly) try to force my TV into 60hz at 1080p, it instead allows it to remain at 50hz (the desktop refresh rate). I've gathered powerstrip is able to do this via the advanced timing setting, but it seems to be greyed out when I'm outputting to the TV. When I'm using my regular LG monitor, advanced timing is available, which is at odds with other posts I've read on the forum that say the "advanced timing" setting is graphics adapter dependant. I have tried creating an inf for the TV by reading data from monitor/edid etc (not sure if I'm even doing that correctly though), but it's still greyed. A "fresh" pstrip.ini running the default microsoft driver for the TV is below:

Note the TV is being fed HDMI, while the monitor is using DVI. Any Ideas?

I'm afraid not. Your GPU isn't supported, and its just coincidental that it works when connected via DVI (maybe resolution dependent?).

Ah that's a shame, the funny thing is, the resolutions are the same, both screens at 1920x1080 and advanced timing on the monitor works at both refresh rates, while the TV is greyed out on all I've tried (60, 59, 50 etc)

Guess I'll keep looking then, thanks!

PS. While I was tinkering with it earlier this week, I did manage to get the advanced timing to un-grey on the TV, but it was short lived, as when I was in the middle of some step in the FAQ that shows how to lock refresh rate, it went grey again. After many attempts I haven't been able to reproduce this though, so it was probably a glitch or something.

is the ATI/AMD Radeon Mobility HD 4850 (RV770) supported? I couldnt find information about the RV770 in the release notes. (only would need to be able to tweak the 24p 23.976 clock to get slightly closer to 23.976 fps (or 23p), I dont need other features)

No mobile platforms are explicitly supported, but you should find that that works.
