This is from a conversation I had with softMCCS tech support. I'm posting a summary here in case someone having the same problem is searching for information on it.

The Acer does not respond with a properly formatted DDC/CI message (the checksum is incorrect), and while this is not a fatal problem, softMCCS is designed precisely to flag these errors.

The error cannot be ignored.
